Activity 3: Completing a 1040EZ (Offline - 25 pts.)

Directions:
Okay, it's your turn to fill out a Federal Tax Return, using your personal information, a fake social security number and the following financial information, you will complete a 1040EZ and submit answers for a grade.
  • Follow the directions on the 1040EZ and determine if you have a refund or if you owe tax.
  • Once you are satisfied with your calculations, fill in the form below and submit the form for a grade.
  • The instruction booklet for the 1040EZ can be found on the following web site: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040ez.pdf. The tax table is on page 24 of the booklet. Since it is long, printing is not recommended. In real life, if you have to fill out a 1040EZ while you live with your parents, you would need to use page 20. However, you will NOT have to use page 20 for this activity.
  • Use the following personal and financial information:

  • Use your name and address
  • Use any fake social security number such as 123-45-6789. Since you will not be married for this activity, put dashes in your spouses social security number.
  • Choose yes or no for whether to contribute to the presidential election campaign.
  • You live on your own. Your parents can NOT claim you as a dependent.
